Dan & Beth Zimanski are excited to share their dream home project with you! The Coach House is a unique, custom project being built in St. Tammany parish on OK Lane in Covington. You can follow along through “The Coach House” Facebook page and website, where you can watch the entire house being built from start to finish.
The home will be built on 21.3 acres overlooking 2 ½ acres of ponds and will have a total of just over 5,100 square feet that includes a 4-car garage and a large covered patio. With 3,500 square feet of living space the home will contain 4 bedrooms, 4 ½ baths, a man cave, office, and a bunk room.
Dan is a Business Coach with ActionCOACH and many of his clients are in the construction/trade industries, so he thought it would be perfect if these businesses worked on his family’s dream house. His goal is to introduce you to these trusted contractors and for you to consider them for your next home improvement project or when you build your dream home. The entire project will be photographed and detailed within this website, along with profiles for each of his trusted contractors, suppliers and vendors and the services they provide. Once the project is complete there will be an open house for the public to explore the home and property and meet with all of the trusted contractors involved.
As you enter the home through the foyer you come into the open kitchen, dining and living room that will have a wall of windows for the breathtaking view of the beautiful ponds, including a cozy window seat with hidden cup holders. The large kitchen will feature an island that seats six people, two ovens, a dishwasher, two dishwasher drawers and an ice maker.
The cabinets will feature a decorative, solid-wood hood over the stove top and a built in “furniture piece” that matches the hood. Beth is so happy to be getting her dream of an enormous pantry with a beautiful antique door, custom cabinets & shelves, a coffee station, small refrigerator, and tons of room to keep her things organized. If you know Beth, then you know how much being organized means to her! The dining room is an extension of the kitchen and their custom table will have the ability to seat ten people. Custom bookshelves around the fireplace, which boasts a cypress mantle, will make the living room an enjoyable place for family and friends to relax during their visit.
A custom-built bunk room with the ability to sleep 12 will be a featured room for when the house is full of guests. The expectation is that it will become a favorite room of the grandchildren while spending time together playing games and watching movies.
A large man cave that will double as Dan’s office will be the perfect place to watch the Saints and LSU games. It will also be ideal for Dan when he hosts clients for team days and leadership retreats. It will connect with the large outdoor patio for entertaining along with an incredible view of the entire property.
Beth’s office will be located right off the foyer with a nice view of the front yard. Connecting to her office will be the main bath for guests and on the other side will be a guest bedroom.
The Zimanskis welcome you to join them in watching the journey of building their dream home through this website and following their Facebook page “The Coach House”. They encourage you to view the trusted contractor tab and to remember and consider these contractors for you or your friends’ & families’ next remodel project. They also encourage you to watch for the open house announcement and plan to come see the house for yourself in the fall of 2020.
This project is a dream come true for Dan & Beth! They look forward to spending time with family and friends and the project was designed to entertain people with a variety of interests. Those that love the outdoors can take a ride around the 21 acres on the side by side, fish for largemouth bass in the ponds, sit next to an evening fire or enjoy time reading a book or watching a big game on the outdoor patio. The dream kitchen will be the center of the home with lots of storage, clean lines and a breathtaking view of the ponds.
All of the kids will have plenty of space for card and board games or to enjoy a movie in the spacious bunk room. They designed their home in the anticipation of a growing family and future grandchildren. They wanted a place that numerous family members and friends can enjoy in their own little slice of paradise, and yet be only 15 minutes from Covington.
The Master wing will include their bedroom and an incredible bathroom with an oversize shower, double vanity and stand-alone tub. On the other side of the bathroom will be a custom closet connected to the laundry/mud room. There will also be two guest bedrooms with a shared bath that completes this side of the house.
The home has an attached four car garage with a climate controlled storage room. The far end of the garage will feature double garage doors on both ends so you can drive through, which will come in handy when pulling a trailer into the garage.
The design objective was to make the home aesthetically pleasing, energy efficient, sturdier for bad weather (specifically hurricane force winds) and a need for only minimal maintenance. Hardie plank will cover the exterior of the house and there will be a shingled roof with metal accent roofs over the front porch and back patio. Two heating and cooling systems will make the home comfortable and there will also be a generator for the home so they can host their friends in lower lying areas during hurricane evacuations.
